5 Ways to Prioritize Self Care This Year

With a new year right around the corner, that means it's time to prioritize self-care. Taking care of yourself is not only important for your well-being, but it also allows you to show up as the best version of yourself for your loved ones. So, let's explore five simple ways you can make self-care a priority this year.

1. Keep it Simple

Self-care doesn't have to be complicated or time-consuming. In fact, sometimes the simplest acts of self-care can have the biggest impact. Take a few minutes each day to do something that brings you joy and helps you relax. It could be as simple as enjoying a cup of tea, reading a book, or taking a walk in nature.

I find the best way to maximize this a small amount of time is to build it into my routine at the start of my day. Giving myself 15 minutes of time to read and enjoy my coffee hot before my kids get up in the morning allows me to wake up and start my day in a positive mood. Maybe you’re more of a night owl and an evening walk to decompress suits you better. Find what works for you, no matter how small or simple.

2. Schedule Self Care

Especially if you’re a new parent, it can be really difficult to make the time to look after yourself. It might feel like someone always needs you and you just aren’t a priority right now. Keeping it simple helps with this, but so does scheduling it, to make sure it really happens. Tell your partner what you need so you get a break to focus on yourself. If you can, you may even want to book a babysitter every so often to make it happen. But remember, looking after yourself is just as important as making the school run on time, or meeting that work deadline. Maybe even more so.

3. Try Something New

One way to keep self-care interesting and exciting is by trying something new. Step out of your comfort zone and explore different activities or hobbies that pique your interest. It could be signing up for an art class, trying out a new workout routine, or even joining a social club. Not only will this help you discover new passions, but it will also provide an opportunity for personal growth and self-expression. Local libraries have lots of information about these kinds of events/activities - and they are often free!

4. Invest in Quality Self Care Products

When it comes to self-care, investing in high-quality products can make all the difference. Treat yourself to products that enhance your well-being and bring you comfort. For example, consider using Lil Helper Boofas for ultimate relaxation during bath time or Hyps Menstrual Pads for a comfortable and eco-friendly period experience. Investing in yourself shows that you value your own self-care and prioritize your needs.

5. Relax and Unwind

In our fast-paced world, it's essential to carve out time for relaxation and unwinding. Find activities that help you de-stress and recharge, such as practicing yoga, meditating, or taking a long bath. Remember, self-care is not selfish; it's necessary for maintaining your mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
